Writing a story , a short story or even a novel, implies a good dose of initial courage, because a story, after all, is a living, real part of the writer. Writing is showing off, opening up to the public. Writing for yourself makes no sense, or very little. But writing for others – whether they are stories to present to a publisher or stories to send to literary contests and competitions does not matter – is different. Writing for the reader means confiding one's secrets to a stranger, letting him or her share something that was previously jealously kept within the writer. It means giving him a part of himself, freeing it from the chains of his own ego and putting it at the service of others.
Shyness inhibits writing because it blocks openness towards others. Towards the readers. Shyness, in my opinion, is the real writer's block. Winning it means breaking down a wall, which may be more resistant than the new writer can imagine. I still remember how difficult it was for me to get my girlfriend at the time to read the stories I had written. And how Special Data difficult it was again, several years later, to submit my story for the Royal Rumble competition. Then the road was all downhill. Now I publish and send what comes into my head. Nobody sees my face anyway. But even if he saw her, the wall is now down. Maybe it will be raised again if I see my name in a book someday. But for now there is no such danger.
Was it like this for you too? Did you have to overcome shyness or were you all fearless hearts? And a sharp noise of breaking plastic spread through the classroom, under the incredulous gaze of the colonel, the geometry teacher. «I left my wife after a week of marriage». "And why?" «She kept repeating to me: “Luigi, I love you like crazy!” “Luigi, it's wonderful to go to bed with you!” “Luigi I adore you”… and so on». “And that's why you left her?” «My name is Armando». Filled The last straw for a madman? Being born in a…straitjacket. The last straw for a drug-addicted teacher? Don't have time off. The last straw for a winemaker? Take some vinegar. The last straw for a blacksmith? Being at loggerheads with your wife. The last straw for a relay champion? Getting married without a witness.
